Kate Thornton

Kate Thornton is a distinguished journalist and television presenter. She began her career in journalism, becoming the youngest editor of Smash Hits magazine in 1995. transitioning into television, notably hosting the first three series of "The X Factor" from 2004 to 2006. She was a popular anchor for "Loose Women" (2009–2011) and worked on "This Morning" (2009–2012). Beyond television, Thornton has contributed to publications like the Sunday Times and Marie Claire, and is working currently for Hits Radio where she hosts many shows including The National Afternoon Show.

What’s your favourite day of the week and why? 

Sunday - I love to spend it with my son watching him play football.

How would you describe your style?

I would never dare to suggest I have any!!! (we beg to differ!)

What job did you want when you were a child?

To be a journalist.

If you could train in a different career now what would it be?

A barrister or a lawyer

What’s the biggest thing that’s happened AROUND YOU (not to you) ?

The emergence of the digital generation - it’s a revolution we will all look back on like the previous generation view the Industrial Revolution.

What’s the biggest thing that’s happened to YOU?(other than having children) 

After having children nothing touches the sides - that over shadows everything! I love being a parent more than anything else I’ve ever done.

What’s your least fave day of the week and why?

I don’t dislike any day - I love my job so going to work is always a pleasure.

What's your favourite film or TV program?

There’s soooo many and I can’t think of a single one of them off to top of my head! Meno memory!

What last made you cry happy tears?

Warwick Davis getting teary on the podium at the BAFTA receiving a fellowship and dedicating it to his wife who died last year. It was really moving. 

What’s your biggest mistake/ regret? 

They’re never mistakes if you learn from them - just lessons. So no regrets. 

What's your greatest weakness?

At the moment a mint magnum

What's your favourite smell?

Jo Loves - Pomello and Elleven - a new fragrance oil by Amanda Grossman and Cat Deeley which is ridiculously addictive. It smells next level amazing! 

If you could pass any law what would it be?

Don’t get me started…there are so many, mainly that would better protect women.

What's the biggest compliment people give to you?

You’re nice. I like you. That right there is a win!

What skill/ talent would you like? 

I’d love to be able to sing. My singing voice is genuinely horrific.

What makes you a good friend? 

Love

How long have you got?

What pressure do you feel right now?

None - which is nice. But I often feel overwhelmed.

What would you like to be better at? 

Singing

What’s your favourite colour? 

Definitely White

Do you have a favourite number for any reason? 

2 - Ha! Not sure why - I just like it!

When you’re having a bad day what thought makes you happy/ grounds you ? 

Anything related to my son as a child.

Do you live by any mottos?

This too shall pass. And don’t be a dick!

What’s your can’t live without makeup item? 

Mascara - hate leaving the house without it!

What’s your most common nag sentence’? 

Your coat does not belong on the floor... (hands up everyone who agrees!)

What’s your best physical feature? 

My smile

What’s your favourite holiday destination?

Ibiza

What's your favourite perfume? 

Pomello and Elleven

What size shoe are you? 

I am a size 6

Ben - my son
